Common Problems with the York Air Conditioner
#1 Air Conditioner is Not Cooling the Room
One of the common issues with York air conditioners is the lack of cooling in the room. When this happens to your unit, first check if the air conditioner itself is blowing warm air. If the air coming out of your AC unit is cool, then the problem may not be with damage to your unit. Chances are the unit is simply too small or weak to sufficiently cool the entire room.
If the air that blows out of your unit is warm, then check if you have a bad thermostat setting, where the set temperature is too warm to evenly cool the room. Else, you may have an issue with a faulty compressor, refrigerant leaks, or your air filter needs a cleaning. Don't stress the hassle of troubleshooting your AC unit, and contact us now!
#2 Air Conditioner Won't Power On
If your air conditioner won't power on at all, the issue may be with the power supply system. Check for any tripped or busted fuses in the circuit breaker, and flip the switch as needed. This should immediately solve the issue for you. However, if your air conditioner keeps tripping breakers, you may be overloading your circuit breaker.
Check the temperature control board as well, and see if there may be a miscommunication between the unit and your control panel. A failed compressor may also cause the malfunction in your air conditioner.
#3 York Rooftop Unit is Clogged
Centralized units would have a rooftop unit that works like an outdoor unit of an air conditioner. As these air conditioners are exposed to the elements, they can get dust and debris trapped inside the unit that may cause clogs. They may also have a build up of mold and mildew that causes clogs.
You will notice clogged units as water starts to pool indoors. The leaking water is the trapped condensate that cannot escape through the rooftop unit. Your unit will need a deep, thorough cleaning to remove the clog, which our technicians can do for you! We'll remove the clog, clear the condensing unit, and remove the water pooled in the AC drain pan.
#4 York Blower Motor Problems
Blower motor problems may present as loud sounds coming from your air conditioning unit, or your York air conditioner fan motor may start to overheat. When these happen, your unit may get damaged as a result of a malfunctioning component.
Even a broken belt from your fan motor can cause irreversible damages later on. It is always best to shut down your unit, and inspect the fan motor for any signs of damage. Our licensed technicians will be able to find the source of the problem, so contact us today for a checkup, repair, and maintenance!
How to Reset Your York Air Conditioner
Reset Point: Reset Button
To reset your York air conditioner, locate the reset button on the remote control or control board of you AC unit. Use the tip of a ballpoint pen or a cellphone pin to press and hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds or until the LED screen of your remote control goes blank. Release the button, and wait for your AC unit to restart into its factory settings.
York Air Conditioner Troubleshooting Guide
#1 Have Your AC Unit Cleaned Professionally
Have your unit cleaned professionally at least once every 4-6 months to keep it in tip top condition. Cleaning your unit will improve your indoor air quality, and maintain the durability of air conditioners. We offer three types of cleaning services at Luce:
- General Cleaning - regular maintenance and cleaning of your unit to remove the dust and dirt that accumulated over time.
- Chemical Wash - cleaning the unit using a chemical solution that removes dirt, kills bacteria, and protects the components of your air conditioner, all while your AC unit is mounted on the wall or roof.
- Aircon chemical overhaul - cleaning the unit with a chemical solution, but by removing each part separately to thoroughly clean each part. This is recommended for units that have not been cleaned in a while.
#2 Check the Error Code and Reference the Owner's Manual
Most air conditioners would come with an owner's manual that presents the different error codes with your unit. It should also include a step-by-step troubleshooting guide for each common aircon issue. Check if your unit is showing an error code, reference back to your manual, and follow the troubleshooting steps that follow to fix the issue.
#3 Have Your Air Conditioner Repaired
Don't wait to have your air conditioner repaired at the first notice of an aircon issue. Using a damaged air conditioner can further damage the components, costing you higher repair bills later on. You may end up replacing your entire unit altogether as well.
