Common Problems with the Daikin Air Conditioner
#1 Daikin Air Conditioner is Dripping Water
If your AC system is dripping water, it is possible you have a frozen AC due to a dirty air filter and evaporator coil. Thaw out the ice, clean your unit, and let the air filter dry before placing it back into the air conditioner to fix the problem.
You may also have a refrigerant leak, which in this case, contact a HVAC repair to fix the problem for you, as the coolant used in air conditioners can be dangerous to your skin and respiratory system when exposed to the substance for a significant amount of time.
#2 Daikin Air Conditioner is Not Cooling Properly
Two ways your AC might not be cooling properly: (1) the AC system is blowing cool air, but is not cooling the room; and (2) the AC system is blowing warm air instead of cold air. For the first reason, it may be because your cooling system is too weak for the size of the room. Consider upgrading your unit, or moving it to a smaller room.
For the second reason, you may have dirty air filters, a refrigerant leak, a failing compressor, or restricted air flow volume around your air conditioner unit. Clean the air filter to see if this fixes the problem. If it does not, it is best to contact a specialist for an accurate diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of your unit.
#3 Daikin Air Conditioner Remote Controller has a Miscommunication
First, make sure the power cord of your indoor unit is securely plugged in. Check if your remote control pad has locked buttons, and unlock it by following the guide in your owner's manual. Check the batteries as well, and replace any dead batteries with fresh ones. Make sure you're pointing the remote controller to the air conditioner for a direct connection.
#4 Daikin Air Conditioner Won't Turn On
An air conditioner that won't turn on almost always has an electrical problem, which is often an issue with a blown fuse in the circuit breaker box. Unplug the power cord of your unit, check the circuit breaker for any tripped circuits, and flip the switch back to its original position. Your AC unit should function properly again.
#5 Daikin Air Conditioner is Making a Whirring Noise
The whirring noise coming from your air conditioner is a sign of a faulty fan motor, worn compressor, or bent fan blades depending on the frequency of the sound. A high-pitched whirring noise would indicate a worn down compressor that needs replacement, while a faulty fan motor would have a low, deep-sounding whirr. Bent fan blades sound like a clunking noise.
How to Reset Your Daikin Air Conditioner
Reset Point: Power Button
To reset your Daikin air conditioner, locate the ON/OFF power button on your unit. Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, then press the button again to power off the air conditioning unit. Wait for 30 seconds, then press the power button once more to power on the AC unit. Your Daikin AC should be fully restarted.
Daikin Air Conditioner Troubleshooting Guide
#1 Check Your Owner's Manual
Always check your owner's manual first whenever there is a problem with your unit. Air conditioning systems come with manuals that provide information such as error codes, common problems with descriptions, and troubleshooting guides.
Identify the error code flashed on your air conditioning unit, and follow the troubleshooting guide included in your owner's manual. This should help solve common aircon issues. However, advanced problems may require the expertise of aircon technicians.
#2 Keep a Schedule for Cleaning and Replacements
Some components in an air conditioner, such as the air filters and coils, will need cleaning once every two weeks. The AC system should show a green flashing light when it's time to clean or replace the dust box. Other components must be replaced every few years to keep your unit up and running smoothly for a longer period of time.
Keep a schedule of aircon cleaning and replacement routine to know exactly when it is time to clean your air conditioning unit, or to replace any faulty, worn down parts in your AC system. Take note of the green flashing light as well. This will help keep you on track, and prevent damages to your air conditioning systems.
#3 Reset Daikin Air Conditioner
Resetting your Daikin air conditioner may help reboot the system, wiping any glitches or malfunctioning settings. To reset the Daikin air conditioner, turn the air conditioner off. Wait for 5 minutes, then turn the AC unit back on again. If the problem persists, use a pen or cellphone ejector pin to press the reset button on your Daikin air conditioner remote controller.
